Renaissance Plan

The Wake Forest Renaissance Plan was developed in 2003 through the collaborative efforts of a group of corporate planners and designers and the Town of Wake Forest. It was created to develop a vision for the heart of the community and to form a foundation for revitalization efforts for the historic downtown core, as well as the future development of areas surrounding the historic Central Business District. The plan provides policy and recommendations for the revi¬talization efforts, encouragement for reinvestment into historic Downtown and proposes a number of practical development opportunities.

The Wake Forest DRC combines recommendations from the Renaissance Plan and the NC Main Street Program to create its annual Program of Work, which includes specific tasks for economic restructuring, marketing and promotions, design and appearance, events and organization. Through the completion of tasks outlined in the DRC’s Program of Work, Wake Forest has seen tremendous growth and development in Downtown Wake.
