Shimmy and shag your way to historic downtown Wake Forest for our 2nd annual Beach Night on White music event & beer garden scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 5 – 9 p.m.
Jim Quick & Coastline band is the featured entertainment, playing beach music and other popular sounds.
The event is FREE and will take place along South White Street, a portion of which will be closed to traffic. No coolers or open containers will be allowed at the event.
NEW this year is a Beer Garden opening at 3 p.m., hosted by the Wakefield Rotary Club selling domestic & craft beers and wine–Coors Light, Corona Light, Fat Tire, Blue Moon, Pinner, Citradelic, Prime Time Pale Ale, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Pinot Grigio, Moscoto–and bottled water. The Beer Garden will be in the Chamber parking lot at 350 South White Street, near the band stage.
Proceeds from the Beer Garden will benefit a number of local youth programs including the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club, Kerr YMCA Camp High Hopes for under-served kids and the Wake Forest Chamber Youth Leadership Program.
You must be 21 years of age or older to buy drink tickets or be served beer or wine in the Beer Garden. No alcohol may be taken outside of the Beer Garden area. Unlike the Friday Night on White music events, there will be no open containers/alcohol allowed in the streets during Beach Night.
Come early and visit the merchants, shops and businesses in our historic downtown that offer a variety of gifts, food, art, pizza, clothing, hardware, hot dogs, frames, wine, antiques, specialty items, sandwiches, photography, jewelry, craft beer, flowers & plants, coffee, candy, tea, books, ice cream and everything in between.
Food trucks will be lined up along Owen Street, just off of White Street, selling a variety of food-truck fare.
Our featured beach band Jim Quick and Coastline returns to Beach Night 2016.
Quick’s been touring the Southeast US for more than 16 years, playing nearly 300 shows per year. Known for his all-out performances and deliberate, off-the-cuff wisecracks, Jim has been a gracious recipient of the Carolina Music Awards “Entertainer Of The Year Award” – nine times.
This event is presented by Wake Forest Downtown, Inc. (WFD), a non-profit organization made up of business owners, property owners and community volunteers. The Town of Wake Forest supports WFD and provides some funding.
Join us to celebrate the end of summer (local traditional schools begin on Monday, Aug. 22!) with a beach bash like no other in historic downtown Wake Forest.
